An EPIC Weekend!

When you put a beautiful location, amazing teachers, fun dancers and great dance families together....what do you get? An EPIC Weekend!

Revolution Dance Company (the competing teams of Revolution Dance Studio) traveled to the beautiful Homestead Resort and Spa in Midway, Utah, the weekend of October 22nd, and attended EPIC Dance Weekend. Taking classes from Trey, Caroline, Stephanie and Leo, our dancers enjoyed and learned a lot!

Congratulations to the following dancers who won an EPIC scholarship for next year:
  • Olivia M.
  • Carter W.
  • Sabrina R.
  • Kaitlyn M.
  • Chandler H.
  • Erica W.
Along with these dancers, we had many dancers pulled in front to demonstrate in each class! Way to go dancers! (If we have forgotten anybody...please let us know!)

While the dancers were having their fun, the moms visited, went to dinner, visited, had a Moms and Muffins breakfast, visited, went to lunch, and visited some more! The experienced moms shared experiences and stories with the new moms, while the experienced moms got to know the new moms. What a fun time it was for all!

This was the first year RDC attended EPIC and we hope to attend for many years to come. We hope even non-company dancers will attend next year!

Coup! - Announcement Coming Soon!

We appreciate our staff so much....and now a big announcement is on it's way....some dancers already know, but do they realize how big a coup this really is...?

Our classes are going very well! The dancers are amazing our teachers....thank you dancers!

Three of our dancers made ODT's Thriller! Congratulations to Ashley, Brynn and Chandler!

Our former dancers who are on ODT are on the home cast, so go and see our former dancers Danielle Adams and Teilyr Hall! Then, you will also see our current dancers, too!

Two of our dancers made Ballet West's Nutcracker! Congratulations to Ashlyn and Brooklyn! Go see them Christmas Eve or after (cast D).

We are having a great start to the year....some classes are so full we cannot add more dancers! What a good feeling! We will be adding more classes to the schedule - if needed.

We love all of you! Keep dancing!

A Great Grand-Opening/Open House Week!

What a fun week it has been! We took pictures of MOST of our new dancers (if we missed your dancer, make sure we take his/her picture this week!), had free prizes for our "Princess" dancers and free Otter Pops for everyone! We would like to WELCOME all our new dancers who registered! We are SO excited about this upcoming year!

We saw so many new faces this past week and love our new dancers already!

Our biggest claim-to-fame this year is having FOUR (yes 4) sets of identical twins! How many studios can say that? MY next project is trying to tell them apart! :-)

ZUMBA and the High School Team (Dance/Drill) classes started this week... a little small but we hope to fill these classes this month.
  • Chelsea Williams (formerly of Odyssey) teaches the High School Team technique class on Wednesday evenings. Chelsea was captain of the Hillcrest High School's nationally ranked drill team. This class is on Wednesday nights from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Punch cards for this 1.5 hr class are only 4 classes for $50 and 8 classes for $90.
  • Karla Morales teaches our Zumba classes. She is Zumba certified and we are excited to add this exciting exercise class to our schedule! Zumba classes are Wednesday at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 9:00 am. Walk-in classes start at $10, punch-cards are 4 classes for $32, 8 classes for $48 or 12 classes for $60! Gym prices with no gym fees!
  • Registration fees do not apply for punch-card classes.
Working with children is always amazing and fun, but the cutest conversation happened in Miss Biz's Wednesday nights 5-6 yr old combination class:

Miss Biz: Could anyone know what a shuffle is?
Little Dancer: I do!!!
Miss Biz: Could you show me?
Little Dancer: Umm....there isn't one here....it's a little Ipod....

Have a great long weekend, as we are closed for Labor Day!

2nd week of Classes!

Well, the second week of company classes and we are still seeing interest in our younger companies....yea! We want to welcome all the new company members this year!

Lots of interest in our Children's Classes, too! We are so excited for the full season to begin on August 30th!

On Monday, Misha Vickroy, started her contemporary choreography for X'treme (RDC's top company) and by the looks of it, it will be amazing! Congratulations to those dancers who auditioned and are not learning this dance. Word on the dance floor is that the ballet class that followed, taught by Chris Anderson, was GREAT!

Advanced Hip hop with Natalie Keyes on Tuesday was nothing but AMAZING! We want to wish her luck in getting the job in L.A., but honestly we won't cry if she doesn't, because she will then be able to teach for us....but we're not holding our breath. :-) Good luck Natalie!

The dancers in Level 1 are rocking the dance floor. I watched them as they worked hard in ballet and jazz. They are improving with every class. Watch out Level 2! Speaking of Level 2, they were great in Tap on Tuesday - thank you for the hard work.

The rest of the week was pretty routine, except for Thursday! I was lucky enough to teach Level 1 and Level 3 Tap and they "Bust a Move"! Also, Annette is putting WANTED back on the competition circuit with new, updated choreography! Good luck Ultra in this amazing dance!

Quoting Ellen: "It doesn't matter if you have ever had a dance class in your life, which I haven't, maybe you couldn't tell. But everybody should do this [dance], it is so much fun."

Quoting Thomas Edison: "If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves."

The Dance Year Begins....

On August 2nd, the 2010-2011 dance year began with our technique classes for our RDC (Revolution Dance Company) dancers. We were excited to have so many new and returning dancers!

Monday began with our Level 3 classes. These classes are small but growing! We are excited to see these dancers and their desires to improve and advance. We then had our Level 4 and 5 dancers arrive. All I have to say is WOW! What amazing dancers we have! We are so lucky to have Chelsea Williams, Chris Anderson, Lauren Blackhurst and Teilyr Hall teaching on Mondays!

Tuesday began with Pilates with Chantele Collier for our Level 5 dancers (I'm hearing whisperings that dancers want more!). Biz Chase (who comes from California and new to our staff this year) and Teilyr are our teachers for our Level 1 dancers, and Angie (me) and Lauren for Level 2 dancers. I am excited to say we had some VERY talented new dancers in our Level 2 Tap class! We finished off the day with Lauren again for our Level 4-5 Ballet. Our Level 1 and 2 dancers are excited to learn!

Wednesday we are lucky to have Cheryl Gilger teaching our Level 5 Ballet and Pointe class with Biz teaching our Level 3-4 Ballet and Pointe, and Chelsea teaching Hip Hop. RDS has decided to make Hip Hop a required class for RDC dancers in Level 3 and above....this should prove to be exciting!

Our week ends on Thursday with ALL Levels attending classes this day. Our claim to fame is having ROWLAND BUTLER on our staff for Thursdays! We are also lucky to have Annnette Jones, Taryn Mano and Brittany Beckstead on Thursdays, too! We don't want to forget Chandler Hall, who will be teaching the Level 1 Tap dancers to love and appreciate tap!

As you can see, we are so excited about this dance year. Our staff and dancers are amazing! For more information on RDS, please visit our website at http://RevolutionDanceStudio.com or email us at info@revolutiondancestudio.com.
